A little more personal insight into “Who We Are”:
Gena grew up in Mark Center, OH, a small, very small, don’t blink, no red light, small town. She was the “baby” of the family, the youngest of 15 children to Roger and Louise Zeedyk. She grew up on a farm helping wherever needed.
Gena’s “God” gift is fashion, interior design, decorating, and styling weddings among many. Gena is the “Details” Queen. For over 10 years she held seasonal décor events in our home and the last few years in the barn. With her eye for classical fineries and her love for Christmas, her events would attract well over 2,000 shoppers coming from Toledo to Fort Wayne for a 4-day event. It wasn’t just the shopping, but the ambiance, the spirit of Christmas, and, the Spirit of Goodness that enveloped everyone, that brought her success.
So, the transition to weddings was a natural fit for Gena. Her ideas for Styling a Wedding get her creative heart and mind flowing full speed. The Manor Home has been styled and decorated by Gena as well. Her creativity can be copied but never duplicated. Her gift is a definite advantage for our couples.
Gena is also a master storyteller. Her ability to take practical life and truth and put it into allegorical stories that children and adults both become mesmerized and easily remember is phenomenal. We have often been told we should write books together. Now we’re helping couples write their love stories.
Steve grew up number 5 of 11 children to Harold and Orpha Nye. His parents both grew up on farms in Lancaster County, PA, and Hershey, PA areas. His parents were entrepreneurs also. The environment at home was always business and helping and loving people.
Steve is the “Big Picture” guy. Ideas for business and the entrepreneurial spirit flow through him naturally. He has always said, “If your vision isn’t so big it scares you, it’s not big enough.”
Steve’s gifts are his speaking and writing abilities that inspire, encourage and challenge the greatness in everyone. He absolutely loves the outdoors and landscaping. His landscape vision and design talents can be seen as you tour the Manor grounds.
We have three (3) Amazing children and families who carry our vision of Possibility, Purpose, and Destiny.
Our son, Steve M. Nye, and his wife Andrea have two handsome and active boys, Casen 8 and Branson 6. Steve is a heavy equipment operator for LBC in Fort Wayne, IN. and a “young farmer” growing corn and soybeans. Andrea is a Mom first and a nurse in the NICU at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, IN.
Our oldest daughter Destiny is married to Colby Hall and they have a lively and spunky 2 year old Letti James. She is a Kindergarten teacher at Hicksville. Colby works full-time for Air Force One in Defiance, OH., and grows corn and soybeans in the Ney, OH area. Colby and Destiny were married here at Barn On Nye Manor.
Zoe is our youngest and is married to Jon Gigax of Archbold, OH. Zoe is a Rad Tech at Community Memorial Hospital in Hicksville, OH. Jon is the owner of Twin Cities Lawn, Landscape and Snow, and since that wasn’t enough they purchased the Plants Plus Nursery in Archbold. They have our third and fourth grandson, the inimitable, Judge, who is getting ready to turn 3 and the Latest version of the family progeny, the 1 year old, Happy and lively Riggins. Jon and Zoe were married here at Barn On Nye Manor also.
All of our children and their families help us in our wedding venue and farming business, Aunt Gena’s Gourmet Sweet Corn. We raise about 50 acres of sweet corn and sell it roadside in Auburn and Fort Wayne, IN, and in Hicksville, Edgerton, and Bryan, OH. We could not have and cannot, do it without them.
We know how valuable each person’s gifts are. We get excited to see families and couples come together. The power of union and oneness brings a greater ability to be blessed and be a blessing to their families and communities.
We have been greatly favored and believe we have created a property and venue where The Blessings and the Sweetness of Life are the Intangibles that are the Crowning Jewell in all we do and with whomever we connect with.
Thank you for searching us out, and, if we have the privilege and honor of hosting your momentous day, we thank you for entrusting us. We will care for your Dream and Day, for the Gift it is!
With All Our Hearts,
Steve and Gena Nye Family
